POLICY:
Each system comes with a free 60 day Maintenance Policy. When Maintenance is purchased with the system an additional 60 days free are added to your Maintenance term, giving you 16 months of maintenance for the price of a one year contract.

Beyond the initial 60 day free Maintenance period, a One Year Maintenance Agreement may be purchased. Agreements taken out within 12 months will run concurrent to the expiry date of the initial agreement.

A support contract covers technical support via phone, fax and email and entitles the user to software upgrades during the validity of the contract. We normally provide support to the person named in the software registration.

UPDATE INFORMATION
All registered users are eligible to download applicable product updates from our website during this period. Please check this website on a regular basis for notices on updates. 


FAILURE TO RENEW
If you do not renew your software support after it expires you will no longer be able to obtain program updates nor will we test any problem files. You will not be able to purchase additional licenses at a discount. You will not be able to ’trade in#your current product as an upgrade.

Late Renewal
If you do not renew your software support contract on time and then wish to renew it at a later date you, will be billed for additional support if the contract is the product has moved on by 1 major release. 

SPECIFICATION

 

AVAILABLE SOFTWARE LICENSE TYPES

  • (NL) - Node Locked License. If the type of license you have purchased is a “Node Locked license”, each purchased license may be operated on only one (1) computer.

  • (USB) - USB Key Node Locked License. If the type of license you have purchased is a “Node Locked license” and you have also purchased a USB dongle key, each purchased license may be operated on only one (1) computer at time but may be moved to another computer by moving the USB dongle key and the license Activation Code

  • (LAN) - Local-Area Network License. If the type of license you have purchased is a Local Area Network license, you may install the licensed so.. ware on as many computers as desired within a single office location. The total number of licenses operated simultaneously over the LAN, including any that have been checked out by the license manager, may not exceed the number of WISE Software LAN licenses purchased by you for a single office location. LAN LICENSES MAY NOT BE USED OVER A WIDEAREA NETWORK (WAN) THAT IS ACCESSIBLE TO USERS OUTSIDE THE SINGLE OFFICE LOCATION.

  • (WAN) - Wide-Area Network License. If the type of license you have purchased is a Wide Area Network License your WAN License(s) may be accessed over your WAN by any individual within your Business Entity. “Business Entity” means you or your respective corporation, partnership, LLC, LLP, foundation, estate, trust or other organization. Your independent contractors may use your WISE Software license(s) but only during the period of their employment with you. The Software may be installed on any number of computers owned and controlled by the Business Entity. However, the total number of licenses operated simultaneously over the WAN may not exceed the number of WISE Software WAN licenses purchased by your Business Entity. WAN LICENSES MAY NOT BE USED BY INDIVIDUALS OUTSIDE THE BUSINESS ENTITY AND MAY NOT BE OFFERED FOR PUBLIC USE OVER THE INTERNET OR OTHER COMPUTER NETWORK THAT ALLOW ACCESS BY USERS WHO ARE NOT PART OF THE BUSINESS ENTITY.

 

SOFTWARE INSTALLATION

The installation of GerbTool software requires administrative privileges. The installation software will check your user account during the setup process to determine if you have sufficient privileges.

  • Install GerbTool on a PC where GerbTool will be used. Double click on the downloaded setup.exe file and follow the prompts to install the software.


ACTIVATE A NODELOCKED LICENSE


A nodelocked license is a single software license that is enabled by an activation code. In order to afford some protection from potential improper use, only one-year licenses are issued and the license is tied to a single computer. The license is not linked to maintenance and will be renewed perpetually. If you find your license has expired, please click on the License Activation Wizard button to request a new activation code.

 

  • After the installation is complete, start GerbTool. The application will display a message box “No valid license found”.
  • Click the License Activation Wizard button.
  • Select Request License Activation, and click the Next button.
  • Your name, e-mail address, serial number and phone are required to receive an Activation Code. Complete the Registration Information, and click the Next button.
  • If you have any additional information that you would like to add to the license request, type it in the Notes field, and click the Next button.
  • Indicate whether you want your license request sent directly to WISE Software by e-mail (preferred), printed on your default printer, or saved to a Text file. If you cannot send your request or receive the Activation Code by e-mail, please contact WISE Software technical support at 1-503-554-8855 for instructions.
  • Click the Next button. Depending upon the method you chose, our request is either sent by e-mail, printed, or you are prompted to select a file name for your text file. A confirmation message appears. If you sent the request by e-mail, you are finished. If you experience any problems sending your request using this method, we recommend starting the wizard again, saving the request to a text file, and sending it as an e-mail attachment. If you saved the request to a .txt file, you can attach the file to an e-mail message addressed to licenses@wssi.com.
  • WISE will send an e-mail reply with the Activation Code as a .wlac file attachment. Double-click on the .wlac file in the e-mail. If your e-mail program asks you what you wish to do with the file, tell it to open the file.
  • You may now open the GerbTool application (Start>Programs>WISE Software>GerbTool 16.1>GerbTool) or by clicking on the GerbTool icon on your desktop.



FAQ's

Q. Why do I need a new access code every 365-days?
A. There are three types of licensing :

  • Software License (single user node-locked, no hardware key)
  • Hardkey License (single user node-locked, with hardware key)
  • Floating License (single or multi user, with or without hardware key)

Due to the disdain of hardware keys by most users, WISE uses the Software Licenses method by default for its single-user node-locked installations. In order to afford some protection to WISE from potential improper use, we only issue a 365-day license in this environment. The license is not linked to maintenance and will be renewed perpetually. Like anything, there are pros and cons to this: the "pro" of not having a hardware key to contend with thus leads to the "con" of having to renew your license every 365-days.

For those users that do not like having to renew their licenses and/or wish to have the flexibility of moving their license to other machines, or taking the license home to work from another machine, you might want to consider using a Hardkey license. A hardware key can be provided for a nominal fee, and you will receive a permanent license for that key. You are then free to move the software around and not have to worry about your license timing out at the wrong time. The hardware keys attach to USB ports.

 

Q. I downloaded an evaluation copy. Can I get a temporary, full license?
A.  Yes, you simply need to request a license (note that we can only provide temporary licenses for the most recent versions of VisualCAM and GerbTool).

  • After performing a Nodelocked installation, start the application. It will open in Demo mode, and display a message box with an opportunity to immediately request an activation code.
  • To request an acitvation code, click on the Request Activation Code button. The License Activation Request Wizard appears. Click the Next button.
  • Your name, e-mail address, phone, and fax are required to receive an Activation Code. Use “Demo” for the serial number. Complete the Registration Information, and click the Next button.
  • If you have any additional information that you would like to add to the license request, type it in the Notes field, and click the Next button.
  • Indicate whether you want your license request sent directly to WISE Software by e-mail (preferred), printed (to send a fax), or saved as a text file that can then be included as an e-mail attachment. Our fax number is (503) 554-1220 and the e-mail is licenses@wssi.com.
